Students create animated stories and simple games, arranging instructions in sequence, experimenting with loops, and testing their code to find and fix mistakes.
Young engineers investigate how gears and motors create movement, then build, test, and refine mechanical designs through hands-on challenges and collaborative problem-solving.
Players sharpen their decision-making by exploring forks, pins, skewers, and checkmate patterns, then apply these tactics in coached games with classmates.
Students design interactive games with their own rules, scores, and timers, using variables and conditional logic to test ideas and refine how their games work.
Teams tackle engineering challenges by designing, programming, and testing robots, exploring sensors and gearing, and refining their designs one change at a time.

Spaces. Chess classes have 16 places; coding and robotics classes have 15, so every child gets attention. Once a class is full, join the waiting list. Registration closes Friday, January 8, 2027 or when a class is full. Joining the waiting list does not charge you or enroll your child; Griot reviews admissions when a place becomes available.
Pick-up. Children are signed out from the library at the end of class, and a child enrolled in aftercare is walked back to the aftercare room.
Missed classes. A child who misses a week rejoins the group the following week. If the school is closed, the class does not meet that day.
Questions about the school day. For pick-up, aftercare and anything on the school side, email Kelley Allen, Aftercare Director, at kallen@stpeterschooldc.org.
Waiting list
If your class is full, send a request to Griot. No payment is taken and no place is reserved. Griot will decide whether to offer a place when space becomes available.
